Madrid, 29th May, 2026. Julia García has been awarded the Best Student Paper Presentation prize at the SPIE Photonics Europe International Symposium 2026, as part of the Nanophotonics XI session. The event, held in Strasbourg from 12 to 16 April, brought together leading researchers and specialists in the fields of photonics and nanosciences.
Julia García is a PhD student at IMDEA Nanociencia. Her research focuses on the growth, fabrication and characterisation of CVD graphene-based devices, carried out within the Quantum Nanodevices group and in the cleanroom of the Centre for Micro and Nanofabrication, led by Daniel Granados. She is currently working on her PhD thesis on the fabrication of Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems (NEMS) based on two-dimensional materials. In particular, her work studies the behaviour of membranes suspended over micrometre-scale cavities of different geometries.
