Abstract:
Optical Tweezers is a powerful technique for applying and measuring mechanical forces and displacements at the picoNewton and nanometric scales. This technique enables a detailed exploration of the dynamics and mechanical properties that govern the operation of molecular systems in real-time. This seminar will present an overview of the optical tweezers instrumentation available in the Molecular Motors Manipulation Lab at IMDEA Nanociencia along with some examples of its applications to study the operation of both biological and artificial molecular systems. Finally, we will outline the ongoing upgrades and planned developments to expand the lab’s capabilities.
